Jake Hosen


Jake Hosen is an ecosystem ecologist who studies how microbes impact water quality in streams, rivers, and lakes. Working with ecological restoration practitioners, Jake’s research generates applied environmental solutions. Jake also tackles fundamental environmental questions, researching how rivers and streams contribute to the global carbon cycle.

Jake has authored numerous academic publications, but is particularly enthusiastic about presenting his work to a broader audience. This includes writing articles for popular media, conducting workshops for teachers, and presenting his work to community organizations.

Jake is currently a postdoctoral associate at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Behavior, Ecology, Evolution & Systematics from University of Maryland, College Park.
