Jon Bonnet is a Family Medicine resident physician at Duke University Medical Center (although his first true love is exercise). An admitted “gym rat,” Jon thought it would be great to get paid to do what he loved, and became certified as a personal trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and an Exercise Is Medicine specialist. As an Exercise Science student at Ohio State, he found time to test and train both students and athletes in the Ohio State’s Body Composition and Muscular Strength and Endurance Laboratories. He currently serves on the board of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine as the Young Physician Director where he hopes to help transform “sick care” into true “health care.” Dr. Bonnet is passionate about preventive care and thinks diet, exercise, and sleep are the best medicines. Wanting to lead by example, he literally “walked the walk” during medical school and joined forces with Walk With A Doc to start an Ohio State Walk With A Future Doc. As a tribute to his commitment to health, his classmates voted him “Most likely to be picked as a live anatomy specimen,” which was followed up by the less flattering superlative “Most hours spent in the gym.” You can find him any day at the gym hitting the weights, running outside in the gorgeous North Carolina weather, or cooking up some farm fresh super foods with a glass of wine in hand.
